ABOUT ME
I graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 2000. Since then, I have worked within the NHS in clinical and managerial roles as well as within independent clinical practice. In the summer of 2014, I was delighted to be awarded with the Allied Health Professionals Practice Award from Birmingham City University.
I am a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT's) and the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
During my career I have developed an extensive knowledge of child development and speech, language and communication difficulties. For the last 22 years I have specialised my practice in assessing and supporting children and adults presenting with complex communication, health, emotional, social well-being needs and neurodivergence which may indicate conditions such as Autism and ADHD. I have extensive experience of working with autistic women and girls and am skilled to understand and explore the more subtle and less obvious features. I provide assessments for children and young people who have been adopted and /or have experienced developmental trauma and difficult life experiences where neurodivergence has been suggested. I am trained to administer the ADOS-2 assessment both face to face and through tele practice.I am also experienced in assessing and supporting children with other related conditions including the Autism PDA profile, Developmental Language Disorder, ADHD, Selective Mutism, and Sensory Processing difficulties/differences. I understand the impact that communication difficulties can have on a child, young person or adults development in other areas of their life including their emotional and social well being. I tailor my advice and support to families with understanding and empathy. My positive and compassionate approach to assessment and support guides my clinical practice.
When I am not working I am a busy mum to my two boys. I enjoy eating out with the family and visiting new places and travelling. People say I am a good listener and I have a positive approach.
