ABOUT ME

I graduated as a Speech and Language Therapist from the University of Wales Institute Cardiff in 2000. Since then, I have worked within the NHS in clinical and managerial roles as well as within independent clinical practice. In the summer of 2014, I was delighted to be awarded with the Allied Health Professionals Practice Award from Birmingham City University.

I am a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT's) and the Health Professions Council (HCPC).

During my career I have developed an extensive knowledge of child development and speech, language and communication difficulties.  For the last 19 years I have specialised my practice into the area of Autism assessment, diagnosis and support both within an NHS multidisciplinary assessment team as well as within independent practice. I am also experienced in assessing and supporting children with other related conditions including the Autism PDA profile, Developmental Language Disorder,  ADHD, Selective Mutism, Dyspraxia and Sensory Processing difficulties/differences. I understand the impact that communication difficulties can have on a child, young person or adults development in other areas of their life including their emotional and social well being. I tailor my advice and support to families with understanding and empathy. My positive and compassionate approach to assessment and support guides my clinical practice.

When I am not working I am a busy mum to my two boys. I enjoy eating out with the family and visiting new places. People say I am a good listener and I have a positive approach.
